On Sunday 25th March 2018, Jacob Budd-Doyle, Byron Horgan, Harry Buck and myself all took part in our first ever out-of-school show as a band. Young Dilemma was born last year when all of us took part in the School’s Rock Band co-curricular programme. Together we formed our band, Young Dilemma.
Over the course of last year we started holding out-of-school rehearsals at Superfreak Studios in Joondalup. We rehearsed every weekend at the studios, working on our songs and set list. In the beginning it was only for School performances and fun, but mid 2017 the studio’s owner, Jamie, asked if we would be interested in performing at his annual show ‘The Freak Show’. Happily we agreed and worked hard for the next couple of months to prepare.
It seemed that it was a long time coming, but the show on Sunday was something each one of us enjoyed so much. We are all incredibly grateful for the opportunity but also the support we received from both teachers and fellow peers for the show. With the room already packed with family and friends, we were all incredibly grateful and surprised when Mr Tonti, our Head of Music and Mrs Grey, Middle School Acting Associate Principal, showed up to support our performance. We are incredibly lucky to have all this support and on behalf of the entire band we just wanted to thank everyone that came and made our first performance together something we will remember for the rest of our lives.
