To mark the end of a very busy first semester in Year 9, the Team Leaders and Tutors arranged a fun filled afternoon of Bubble Soccer, Archery Attack and sports games in the last week of Term 2. After clarification of the guidelines of play, we were all eager for the main events!
First up- Bubble Soccer. The aim of the game was to get the soccer ball into the goals but in all honesty, we all just preferred to do tumble turns and fall to the ground wearing giant sized inflatable soccer ball suits. Not as easy as it sounds! The harder you bumped, the higher you bounced! It was a real test of resisting gravity, which proved to be rather exhausting and challenging after the initial game play commenced.
Archery Attack also had a twist –it resembled ‘Hunger Games meets Tribal Survivor’ challenges using protective eye and headwear, foam ended arrows and inflatable commando bases for each team. The intention was to hit the opposing team with foam arrows and prevent yourself from being hit by hiding behind inflatables. If someone were hit, the medic would need to “revive” them, or in other words, bring them back into the game. This activity required its own level of skill seeing many students taking aim and shooting arrows with impressive medieval precision.
The third activity in the gymnasium consisted of a variety of games involving a Basketball free shootout; Bombs Away using Frisbees, Vortexes and hockey skills. We had an exciting, physically exerting but overall thoroughly enjoyable afternoon thanks to the teachers and instructors of the event!
