On Wednesday, Thursday and Friday of Week 1 of this Term, 9.1 9.2 and 9.3 students headed south to Camp Mornington PCYC for their final Middle School camp.
When we arrived it was great to see the camp upgraded with a new coat of paint and renovated bathrooms. Camp Manager, ‘Big John’ and his police dog Nellie greeted us warmly and reminded us of our responsibilities. Then straight away students were off for their first activity. The group canoeing were definitely the most excited, and their cheers and screams as they fell into the water and got ‘attacked’ by spiders echoed around the campsite and into the surrounding bushland.
Meals were hot, hearty and wholesome and all students performed their clean up duties diligently. They had plenty of time before activities to stroll leisurely around the site and mix and mingle. In the evening we had a busy quiz and games night and students were kept entertained with a pumping sound system that played classics from the 60’s and 70’s. The second night was far more relaxed as students sat around the campfire and impressed teachers with their camp fire songs and marshmallow cooking. Zinging on the flying fox in the dark was a popular activity along with the classic game of spotlight.
All students behaved brilliantly and returned home tired but safe, having had one last chance to bond together and strengthen friendships as they prepare to enter Senior School.
