On Wednesday 20th November, we held our annual Year 6 Transition Day where approximately 150 nervous (but excited!) Year 6 students from a variety of primary schools joined us for the day for activities and an introduction to Middle School. They met a number of key staff who will become familiar faces next year, and were shown the Year 7 Area – a place that will soon become their second home!
After completing their MYAT tests in the morning, the formalities were out of the way and the rest of the day was full of activities. Students participated in science experiments, cooking lessons, drama games, sport activities and more! The overall consensus was that the Year 6’s had a phenomenal time with the hopeful question being asked – ‘is every day of Year 7 like this?!’
As well as the activities, a very popular part of the day was when the students had the opportunity to visit the renowned Café at lunchtime. The majority of the cohort made their way through with their eyes widening as they saw all the delicious options!
To finish the day, we made our way to the Chapel to give the Year 6’s a chance to see our newest addition to the School, as well as ask any questions they had about starting Year 7. We also had some parents attend this session which was fantastic to see. As the Year 6’s departed and said goodbye to old friends and new friends, they had smiles on their faces and were beaming.
We are looking forward to officially welcoming our Year 7 2020 students at the beginning of next year! Stay safe and enjoy your holidays!
