Our Natural Disasters inquiry has allowed us to delve into the exciting world of STEAM, (Science, Technologies, Engineering, Arts and Maths) as well as integrate our learning across other subjects.

Firstly, we all chose our own natural disaster “event” that interested us. (ie Boxing Day Tsunami). We researched the science behind it and how this disaster affected our world. To showcase our understanding, we presented our research in numerous ways.

We have created websites, Powtoon, Prezi and PowerPoint presentations with flair! Our dioramas, games and flipbook posters are artistic, innovative and definitely original. We have used facts from our research within our story writing, there are many budding authors emerging from our cohort! The iPads are getting a workout as we use green screens to create podcasts and iMovies. Lastly, we have mastered a new program called Tinkercad and are in the process of designing rescue robots and drones that would suit our particular natural disaster.

Next term, these robots and drones will be created using the 3D printers, miniaturised of course!
