The Year 5 students recently attended the annual camp to New Norcia, 132 km North East of Perth. All staff members who attended the camp were extremely proud of the students as they represented the School with distinction.
Students encouraged each other and engaged in different activities that consisted of Aboriginal painting, spear and boomerang throwing, historical tours, prayer, cemetery visit, art gallery and museum exhibitions.
This camp encouraged the students to be open-minded investigators about history and clear communicators as students were required to work cooperatively most of the time to complete assigned tasks such as setting up for breakfast, snacks, lunch and dinner.
Some of the highlights from the camp were the Ping Pong Olympics and the opportunity to have unique experiences like 20 minutes of prayer and worship with “real life” Benediction Monks.
All students and staff who attended the camp thoroughly enjoyed their time and we would like to thank all of the parent helpers who joined us on our journey.
We were very fortunate with the weather and our time in New Norcia, and we hope this camp has been a memorable experience for all students in Year 5.
All students were principled and balanced and we commend them on their behaviour and manners.
With 4 weeks to the end of term, we inquire into North and South America and the variety of biomes that exist on these two continents of the world. We take a deep look into the following lines of inquiry – animal adaptations, environmental issues, and the physical world and how animals are connected to their environment. Students are showing enthusiasm towards this unit.
