Our Year 2 children have been investigating how the conservation of water in our School and homes can assist in sustaining our world, which correlates with our Phase of Learning in Year 2.
Initially, to stimulate questions and encourage the children to wonder we provided a tub of water and related items including taps, shower caps and a rain gauge. This ignited the children’s curiosity and allowed them to question the world around them. Their questions gave us the direction in which to take our research. From there, the inquiry grew into an in-depth look into how our school uses water and what we could do to make others more aware of what it means to be Water Wise. An incursion with the Water Corporation and a visit from Mr Cartwright further highlighted the need to spread the word about water conservation. Students decided to create and display posters around the School to communicate this message to all those within the School.
It has been a positive learning journey by all and many students have embraced the Water Wise way both at School and in their homes.
