As part of a Big Bake Off students were invited to be an exhibitor in the local cookery competition. This section of the competition centred on flour based products. The food was to be cooked using a dry technique, such as baking or shallow frying and was focused on a staple food product such as wheat.

Exhibitors were given a standard recipe for their category and then had to create an interesting variation to present for evaluation by judges and their peers. The four categories in the cookery competition were scones, pikelets, cupcakes and muffins. 

The winners were: 

  • Savoury Pizza Cupcakes by Keanan CrawCour and Gregor Lawrie
  • Pikelets with Strawberry, Banana and Maple Syrup glaze by Kirsty Middleton and Connor Abbott
