During the week of the 19th June until 23rd June the Year 10 Cohort participated in Work Experience, Senior First Aid and/or Try-a-Trade training.
Students attended VET clinics, Mining and Engineering firms, MPs Offices, Business Administration Centres, Hairdressers, Retail Stores, Warehouses, and Restaurants to name but a few workplaces.
Feedback from their supervisors was extremely positive and students should have each received a review from their supervisor stating how well they performed for the week.
Some feedback included:
- “So far she has been a pleasure to work with. Really helped me out!”
- “She has been a real delight, she is mature and shows initiative. A godsends in helping with administration tasks that required attention!”
- “He has worked well and really enjoyed his time here at the store. He has done really well.”
- “Yes we would definitely have Peter Moyes students again.”
- “We are so proud with what she has achieved this week.”
A big thank you goes out to all our supervisors for assisting students gain experience and much needed workplace skills that can be used in many industries.
A special thank you to The Good Guys and Bunnings who have now taken multiple students each year for over 5 years. Also to North Metropolitan TAFE who gave students the opportunity to trade multiple trades and experience the tradition tradesman “Smoke-o” break.
Year 10 students, by now you should have picked up a Certificate of Appreciation to give to your supervisor. If you have not please visit the Senior School reception to collect it.
Also, please listen out for notices regarding a self-reflection review of your week and start thinking about potentially going back to the same workplace or a different one in the last week of the year, if you are not involved with Peer Support Training at that time.
More information will be provided closer to the end of the year.
