As part of our current Food Production Inquiry Project we visited Lansdale Farm on Tuesday 18th August. Our day began with some informative talks about animals and a chance to meet the wide range of animals on the farm and learn more about them. We also met Farmer Martin who showed us how to make billy tea and damper bread on a campfire. Much to the children’s delight he mixed the tea leaves and water by swinging the billy can around, demonstrating centrifugal force and making tea at the same time!

The Year 1 students also explored the vegetable patch, sensory garden and resource centre at the farm, learning about plant growth, different types of plants and their uses. Our excursion was a great success and provided the children with a wealth of knowledge and hands on experiences! We would like to take this opportunity to thank our parent helpers for making this such a memorable day.
