At Peter Moyes, our Primary teachers are committed and passionate, leading by example. Quality teaching and reflective practices aim to inspire every student to achieve their full potential. Our teachers work hard to foster a love of learning and value questioning and curiosity. They aim to encourage students to connect, explore, discover and create. Students have opportunities to develop and explore the relationship between academic disciplines and local and global contexts. A growth mindset empowers our students to respond to challenges with resilience and perseverance.
We recently had the pleasure of sharing our Primary School learning environment with an Early Years Educational Consultant from AISWA (Association of Independent Schools of Western Australia) who was able to see our teaching and learning philosophy put into practice.
We have been able to share stories from our School that will be showcased within an AISWA publication on the theme on ‘Inquiry Learning’. This has been a wonderful opportunity to highlight the inspiring work of our teachers and students. The publication will be distributed to every independent school in WA, and there are requests for copies nationally. This will also become a textbook for university courses too.
The AISWA consultant had many wonderful reflections to share based on the learning she saw and the conversations she had with students. She was amazed at their ability to communicate their learning experiences, how engaged they were in their activities and the understanding they demonstrated. She witnessed their ability to use correct language when describing their actions and loved how they embraced learning and used skills in a variety of ways.
I will let you know when our copies of the publication arrive.
I wish all our families a happy, safe and restful School Holidays and look forward to seeing you again next term.
Mr Roderick Wood
