Earlier this term, a team of Year 10 and 11 students attended The World Scholars’ Cup held at Scotch College and Curtin University. The event involves a Collaborative Writing challenge, a Scholars’ Challenge, a Scholars’ Bowl and a Team Debate.

The School’s team performed exceptionally well against very strong competition from Scotch College, Iona Presentation College, Sacred Heart College, Christ Church Grammar, Methodist Ladies College, Aquinas, Trinity, Wesley, Guildford Grammar and Shenton College.

Well done to: Rachael Hardman, Kiara Henkel, Georgia Graham, Bailey Cunningham, Chloe Saunders, Uveshan Boodhram, Eva Revet, Constance Lyon, Emillie Foster, Lucy Fitzpatrick, Megan Bothma and Anirudh Mehta.

The following achievements were especially impressive:

Chloe Saunders was ranked 2nd overall in the Debating competition and was selected for the debate showcase, in which she competed for the affirmative. She was the final speaker for this team who won the debate arguing that “This house believes Perth’s success is down to Luck.”

Bailey Cunningham, Uveshan Boodhram and Chloe Saunders were ranked as the 6th best Debating team.

In the writing competition our students placed highly.

Megan Bothma was ranked 6th Overall for Writing and Emillie Foster was ranked 10th.

Lucy Fitzpatrick, Megan Bothma and Anirudh Mehta won the overall Team Writing Challenge. Bailey Cunningham, Uveshan Boodhram and Chloe Saunders were ranked 5th and Eva Revet, Constance Lyon and Emillie Foster were ranked 8th.

We look forward to competing again next year and demonstrating the exceptional talents of our students.
