Throughout Term 1, students in Year 6 had the opportunity to design and build a Solar Car as part of the Year 6 Synergy Solar Car Challenge. Four competitors and two reserves were selected to represent the School and participate in the semi-finals of the Synergy Solar Car Challenge race, held at Warwick SHS on Wednesday 28th March 2018.
Students involved were Ben Graham, Dion Gilling, Teagan Edwards, Dion Gilling, Kayden Minear, Kayley Johnson and Kael Murphy. They were given one hour to build and test the cars before racing along the official Synergy 12 metre long track.
Our team members were praised for their superb collaborative and cooperation skills. Their car functioned tremendously well along the conduit guide. Although not progressing to compete in the finals, these students should be proud of their efforts and remember the fun and resilience they had on the day. All students are keen to compete in this competition or other STEM related initiatives again in the future.
