Selamat to all the students of Bahasa Indonesia this busy Semester One.

I wish to congratulate all Primary School students for a successful semester of Indonesian. Pat yourself on the back and tell yourself “Bagus sekali!” You have studied hard and did some amazing work.

Congratulations especially to the Year 6 students, who have commenced a Pen Pal program with our sister school in Java.  The students at Sekolah Dasar Margie in Surabaya have been enthusiastically responding to our letters which cover a range of topics. The first was a general introductory letter and we are currently preparing to send our second letter, with the topic of Sekolah, being our main focus. We describe our school and school day and ask about their school. It has been a fun and authentic way to broaden the students’ language skills.

I wish students every success in Term 3. I will be away for Long Service Leave during this time and Mrs Fransisca Smith (Ibu Smith) will be teaching my classes while I am away.  Please extend a warm welcome to Ibu Smith.

I will be looking forward to hearing all the stories of what you have done when I return in Term 4.  Selamat tinggal!

Salam hangat,
