On Friday 11th November, over 1200 students from Years 3 to 11 gathered on the School’s Northern Oval for a Remembrance Day service. The service was led by the School’s Chaplain, Reverend David Deeny.

Students assembled to remember our fallen soldiers and all those affected by war and conflict. Students sang the Australian national anthem, recited prayers and observed the traditional one minute’s silence.

Thank you to those students who shared readings and prayers: Grace Perks (Year 6), Whitlam Hendricks (Year 6), Cormack Hall (Primary School Chapel Prefect, Year 6), Keith Solly (Year 7), Brook Lamb (Year 9), Krishan Nain (2017 Deputy Head Boy, Year 11), Astha Sinha (2017 Head Girl, Year 11), Jake Alderson (2017 Head Boy, Year 11). Georgia Jansen (Year 7) sang the national anthem accompanied on keyboard by Music Teacher, Ms Melita Bursac.

Mr Julian Dowse, the School’s Principal, read the poem In Flanders Fields, Mr Keith Briggs, Head of Humanities and Social Sciences Department, spoke about the symbolism of the red poppy and Mrs Linda Pilton, Religious Education Co-Ordinator, shared a Bible reading (John 15: 9-14).

This is the first time in the history of the School that so many year groups have come together for a Remembrance Day service.
