One of the Schools annual, “Good Mental Health through Positive Behaviours” promotional Mental Health and Wellbeing days took place Friday 22nd June.
The School celebrated Stress Down Day (a LIFELINE Initiative to remind us that it is still important to take a break and have some fun). Students and staff were invited to join in activities that provided them with the opportunity to either ‘Stress Down’ or have fun and, in most cases, both.
Activities this year included:
The Primary School students spent time after lunch with their buddy classes learning some skills on how to manage stress through a variety of fun filled games, including making calming bottles and stress balls or playing their favourite board games or participating in sports activities.
Middle and Senior School hosted a Comedy Improv Group called ‘The Big Hoo-ha’ and thankfully the weather was sunny and we were able to have fun with inflatable obstacle courses and slide. A special treat for the students were the Teacher’s wrestling each other in Sumo Suits. We would particularly like to thank all the teachers for their support on the day and a special thank you to the P&F who sponsored many of the events for the day.
The Café also participated in the fun of the day by hosting a Sausage Sizzle for Recess and for lunch, the café offered an Italian theme for the day, dressing up and providing students the chance to choose from a selection of either Pasta or homemade pizza.
We hope that all enjoyed the change to the format for the day.
Remember there are lots of ways you can de-stress or help your child stress less. Some ideas include mindfulness walking, breathing techniques, listening to music, being creative, asking for help, talking about your worries, catching up with a friend, switching off technology, making a to do list, exercise, taking a break, or doing something you love.
