Mr Roderick Wood visited Westview Primary School in Singapore last holidays as part of a Study Tour visiting various schools in Singapore. Consequently, we have reciprocated a visit by 32 of their Year 5 and 6 students and staff. Together our children collaborated and worked with our guests on a series of activities involving technology and the STEAM process.
In 5.2 the students were using Spheros to design and make a Mars Rover that were to travel across different terrain. They worked in teams to created mazes and obstacles on the classroom floor. They also used iPads to code the Spheros to move smoothly and accurately around these mazes.
In 5.3 the students constructed Makey Makey Photo Booths, made interesting engineering projects with Kodeklix inventions and coded Sphero Robots.
Together all the students had a great time and got to appreciate each other’s culture using the STEAM process as a catalyst for collaboration and social connectedness.
