The Year 6 Graduation began with Year 6 student representative, Jade White speaking most eloquently on the highlights of her primary school journey from Kindy through to Year 6. The teachers Mr Cowap, Mrs Paul and Mr Patel each announced their students who were then presented with their Graduation certificates from Mr Wood and Mr Lomas. Mr Wood addressed the Year 6 cohort and talked to them on the theme of the song they were to sing, called ‘You’re the voice’. He shared about the meaning of the song and how it was about what each of them have nestling deep within themselves, a remarkable power to change the world for the better, and that power is sometimes asleep. He also mentioned that the song is about them just waking that power up! Mr Wood also announced the Year 6 Subject Awards and the Mayor of Wanneroo, Tracey Roberts presented the City of Wanneroo Awards with both Bailey Neale and Sam Williamson being the two worthy recipients of this award. Parents and students were then able to view a PowerPoint visual of images of the Year 6 students collected over their school journey. This provided a lot of laughs. Mrs Hoitis from the Middle School shared a blessing that welcomed the newly graduated year 6 students to Year 7. Finally, the Year 6 Students sang with absolute gusto, their song, ‘You’re the Voice’ led by Mrs Loewdin-Juno. It was a magnificent performance and wonderful finale for parents and staff to enjoy. Quite a number of parents required a supply of tissues!
