Languages Week in PMACS started off on a musical note this week with a performance from the Papua Original Band. All students from Years 6 to 9 attended the performance. Students participated enthusiastically by singing along with the band and by showing their knowledge during the Quiz on Indonesia.

That afternoon, we welcomed to our School once again, the Consul-General of the Republic of Indonesia, Mrs. Dewi Gustina Tobing (Ibu Kon-Gen) and other esteemed members from the Consulate. This is Ibu Kon-Gen’s second visit to our School and we were deeply honored for giving us her time so generously. In her speech to the students, Ibu Kon-Gen mentioned how much she appreciated PMACS students’ engagement with Indonesian language through its culture and music. She also said that as Indonesia and Australia are close neighbours, she hopes that the relationship between the two countries will strengthen in the future.

PMACS’ commitment to teaching the Indonesian language has been noted at the highest level in the State. Mr. Kim Beazley, our new WA Governor commented at the Diplomatic Reception held at the Town Hall in Perth celebrating Indonesia's 73rd anniversary of independence that we should keep up our good work. This was also echoed by MLA Bill Johnston who spoke in Indonesian at the Diplomatic Reception.

We thank the Consulate General of Indonesia in Perth for this opportunity for PMACS to host Papua Original Band here at our School. This was also reported on Indonesian National Television, TVRI providing our School with international recognition.
