Late last term Paul Dillon returned to the School for his annual talks with Senior School students. Paul Dillon has been working in the area of drug education for the past 25 years and his talks are highly informative and entertaining.

Below is a reflection of the talk by a Year 10 student:

Paul Dillon starts his talk by stating that if he gets the slightest inkling that we have participated in any of the actions that he describes in his talk, he must report it to a teacher as we are in his duty of care. To counteract this, he states to try to use our best ‘Poker faces’. This was, for all who listened to his talk, impossible.

Mr. Dillon is not only knowledgeable in all the topics he brought up, but delivers important information in a way that is funny to teachers and students alike. Of the plethora of topics that Mr Dillon spoke to us about, some examples are about the importance of understanding and dealing with safety concerns, staying with your friends when going out and when to ring for help in dangerous situations. He also stressed how dangerous drugs can be, and about the mental health issues this could unlock.

It was refreshing to have serious content delivered to us in a way that we, students, can understand. We all thoroughly enjoyed Mr Dillon’s talk, and thank him for once again returning to Peter Moyes.
