Year 6.1 have spent many hours throughout Term 3 and 4 creating practical and meaningful items to assist community groups in Western Australia. One of the nominated community groups was the Dog Refuge in Malaga. Our students organised donations of clothing, towels and sheets and busily cut, wove and sew them to create fantastic dog toys and jumpers.

6.1 were very thrilled to welcome Callum, a volunteer representative of the Dog Refuge and one of their beautiful dogs, Narmi to share how grateful they were to receive the students’ generous gifts. Callum explained how important it is for community members to consider them for donations and assistance at the refuge.

Our students have obtained a great sense of satisfaction from engaging in this project and it has inspired many of them to seek volunteering experiences independently.
