On Thursday 17th November, the Primary Reach Academic Extension Year 4 and Year 5 students took part in the Night of the Notables presentation evening, which was held for the first time upstairs in the gallery area of the gymnasium. The students had all selected an influential, inspiring person to research, whose life and achievements have had a positive effect on the progress of humanity. Their characters spanned the ages from the Middle Ages to the present.

Their research also took them to every continent, from Africa to India, from Europe to the Americas. They investigated scientific endeavour, medical breakthroughs, exploration, creativity, ingenuity and humility.

During their studies the students gained an understanding of the vital connection between effort and achievement. To achieve greatness many of the notables had to overcome significant oppression and obstacles in their path, to achieve greatness.

Each student dressed as their notable person and created wonderful Learning Centre displays, which were packed with colourful posters, models and leaflets designed to accurately reflect each person’s life and their major achievements. The students were able to explain fascinating facts about their person to the invited guests, revealing the depth of their research. This year many students had also 3D printed props related to their notable’s life.

The quality of the work on display was testament to the enthusiasm and commitment of each student as they brought their notables back to life!
