Welcome to Term 2!
It has been lovely to see the smiling faces of children, happy to be back at school and excited as to what they will be learning this term. If only we could bottle this energy for later in the term!
A special warm welcome to our new families and new students. We hope that you and your family grow to love our School as much as everyone else does.
Our focus this term is for the Primary to explore the ‘Rights of the Child’. This is part of the mandated program requirement that all schools are expected to undertake. Students at each year level will be learning about rights and responsibilities this term. You might see some of the Rights of the Child posters around the School if you are unfamiliar with the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child these would be worth viewing. A recent App notification has provided links that you might wish to refer to that were used at our recent Primary School Assembly.
We have had a busy start to the term already. We began the first day with a poignant ANZAC Day Primary School Assembly and had a successful Inter-House Cross Country Carnival last Friday with the afternoon spent indulging all the mothers of our Primary School community!
Did you know that Mother's Day began in Australia in 1924 in Sydney when Mrs. J Heyden would bring gifts to lonely mothers? Mother's Day has become, not only one of the busiest days florists, but a day to say thank you and I love you to our mums.
Our mums mean a lot to us. Each day mothers demonstrate true selfless love. Motherhood is a great investment that can have incredible daily rewards. You can never overestimate the influence of a good mother. Tomorrow's leaders are moulded in the homes of today.
Mothers make an indelible mark on the hearts of their children - their words are never completely forgotten and their touch and the memory of their presence lasts a lifetime. I hope that our Primary School Mother's Day Activities last Friday paid some tribute in acknowledging the role of our community of mothers and that you all felt the special love your children have for you.
I wish to thank the mothers of Peter Moyes ACS for all that they do for their children and for the wonderful young individuals they are raising.
This week we have NAPLAN for Years 3 and 5. The best preparation for NAPLAN testing a parent can provide is to ensure your child has a good night’s sleep of between 10-11 hours and a healthy breakfast on the morning of the testing.
