On Friday 28th October, the J.A.C.E Group held a sausage sizzle during Middle School and Senior School lunch to help raise money for Anglicare. Instead of collecting non-perishable goods to make hampers for Anglicare, they requested donations so they could tailor help to what families actually needed rather than families ending up with lots of the same types of food.

We had a supply of 250 sausage sizzles and 216 soft drinks but such was the demand, we actually ran out 25 minutes into Middle School lunch! We decided to use Senior School’s allocation for Middle School and put in a rush order for 20 pizzas from Dominos. We thank everyone for their patience and support on the day, and wish to let everyone know of how much money we collected for Anglicare. We made a pleasing profit of $956.65 in just over an hour! Thank you to all of the teachers and students who helped us during the sale along with all of our customers for their support.

The J.A.C.E Group was founded by an eager group of Middle School students who are passionate about helping others. Their mission is as follows:

  • Justice – Becoming involved with educating themselves on injustices in the world through educational resources provided by World Vision, Amnesty International and other justice focused NGO’s.
  • Advocacy – Petitioning governments and decision makers in areas that the students themselves are concerned about. This may vary from student to student.
  • Charity – Fundraising for not for profit groups and NGO’s and becoming involved in movements such as the 40 Hour Famine.
  • Empathy – Through education and action, seeing the world from another person’s perspective and developing a view that people can make a difference in the lives of others.
