The Innovators’ Tea Party 2017 was a very successful event. Two students from the School attended. Please see the report below from Constance and Jazmin.

On 20th August, we took the opportunity to attend The STEM Innovators Tea Party 2017, and we found it very inspiring. We had the chance to talk to a number of different successful women all within the fields of science, technology, engineering and mathematics through a speed networking setup. We had 6 minutes to talk to one of the amazing mentors before moving on. We learned a great deal about the myriad of careers available to us that we had before never even known existed.

Not only did it make us more aware of the many career paths available, it also reassured us to know that whatever decisions we make don’t have to be our final ones. It gave us a greater understanding of where these careers can take us across the world. Overall, it made us excited to discover what is awaiting us after School.

The different specialised sessions allowed a more detailed and direct session for those who had already decided on the field in which they were interested; others like us could attend the sessions that targeted all STEM fields.

Food and drinks were served, which really helped build a comfortable environment for us to ask questions and learn more about the different careers. It was a great experience that gave us insight into what our future holds.

Over 225 students attended the sessions from 45 schools in WA, across the weekend, and we’re sure they all had the same outlook as us. We wholeheartedly recommend this experience for Senior School students next year.
