On Monday 17th September, eight Year 10 students competed in the inaugural Wanneroo Council / Innovation Institution competition for young entrepreneurs. It is a competition sponsored by the Council and organised by the Innovation Institution to promote critical thinking, creativity, communication and collaboration skills amongst our students. On the day, our team were posed a problem relating to the rehabilitation and rejuvenation of Yanchep National Park as a tourist destination and nature reserve.

The PMACS team developed many innovative ideas including the use of segways, bike paths and nature playground. They incorporated a redesign of the Yanchep Inn, as well as devising imaginative marketing strategies to promote their solution. I was quite taken back with the ease that they created websites, social media platforms such as Instagram and professional looking posters to advertise their ideas.

The planning, presentation and pitch impressed the Council planning officers and academics so much that they took first prize amongst the other six competing schools.

The students involved were:
Mitch Byrne
Andre Durrheim
Daniel Holding
Josh Griffiths
Kerr Hutchinson
Rory McDonald
Ashley Orr
Dylan Sheikhzadeh

Congratulations to the team!
