On 17th August, the Year 7 Boys’ soccer team participated in the first ever Year 7 ACC Super Series carnival. All of the matches took place in severe weather conditions with thunderstorms and lashing rains throughout the day. In the first game we played South Perth Baptist.  It was a really tough game, but with some great team work we won 2-0 with goals by Luke Dixon and Sonny Oshea and a special mention to Gareth Jenkins for volunteering to be goalie when Jack was unwell. We then won games against St Stephens’ School Duncraig and La Salla with  Will, Ben and Daniel all scoring goals.

In the final we played Kingsway Christian College in the rain. The game was very even until Peter Moyes scored the first goal after which we scored three more goals, with the goal scorers being Sonny Oshea, Spencer Patten and Sam Holroyd whose goal was his second.. After the first half we were all soaked, but really happy because by then we all thought that we would win the final because the referee said that there would be a shortened second half because of the weather conditions.  When the second half started our legs were so weak that we all struggled to run! Towards the end of the second half Kingsway scored a goal but that did not matter , because as soon as we resumed play the referee blew his whistle for full time  and all of the boys were cheering and shaking our opponents’ hands then running back under cover where we could try and get dry! It was a wonderful team effort so thank you to all the players that participated in the event and also many thanks to Mr Hall for coaching us and to Mr Streeter and Mr Patel for their assistance. The victory finished off a great season for the Year 7 boys!
