The Annual Careers Expo was a well-attended event on Wednesday 2nd May 2018, that saw not only our Senior School students come along to speak to our University and TAFE partner organisations but also Middle School and even Primary School parents and students visited our guest’s stalls.

The Expo kicked off the Year 10 student’s term focus of ‘Future Pathways’. Even though a Year 10 might not know what they want to do, activities like this will allow them to select a career goal and focus on that between now and the end of Year 12. By having a goal, it will increase their attention to their studies and allow them to see the link between School and post School options. These goals can always be adjusted over time.

Testimony from a Year 10 Parent:

“I would like to say thank you for last evening’s Careers Expo. We spent about an hour wandering along the stalls. Our son does not have much of an idea of what he wishes to do next year, let alone beyond that. We found that each of the stalls that we thought would be relevant to his skills and interests were extremely helpful and well-prepared for the Year 10 student who does not know what they want to do. They all provided useful and pertinent information in a helpful and friendly manner. We certainly came away feeling that we had received some valuable pointers and advice (not to mention me with an arm full of brochures!)”

All these organisation can be contacted to find out more information about what they have to offer. Students and Parents can email me on twright@petermoyes.wa.edu.au and I will pass on their contact details.

The next Year 10 activities this term include guest presenters talking about future course pathways and work experience.
