Over the April School Holidays, two Year 11 students were privileged to be invited to the Amanda Young Leadership Camp. They have shared their reflections of the camp with us.

The Amanda Young Foundation hosted their annual leadership course at Penhros College over the past holidays. 42 students from WA were selected, myself and Anirudh from our School. The 4-day course was packed with team building and problem solving activities ranging from super-sized treasure hunts to relaxing meditation. We had a variety of informative guest speakers who explained their inspirational stories which touched us all and although we had long days starting at 7:00am and finishing at 10:00pm, they were extremely enjoyable and action-packed.

The Amanda Young Leadership Camp was an amazing experience which I was proud to have been a part of. The aim of the camp was to raise awareness about the meningoccocal disease, as well as educating us about what it took to be a great leader. This was done through a variety of team building activities, guest speakers and problem solving tasks. There were 42 year 11 students from all around WA who took part in this camp. The camp was a great opportunity to meet amazing new people, learn about the meningoccocal disease and the roles and responsibilities of leaders. Overall the camp was extremely fun and was a valuable experience.
