In November 2016, Levi Latif (then Year 7) went to Perth Airport for work experience. He was located in the Air Traffic Control Tower and observed a day in life of an Air Traffic Controller including the arrival and departure of regional, domestic and international flights. Levi shares his story with us.

On Sunday 27th November 2016, I went to Perth Airport for work experience. I went into the Perth Air Traffic Control Tower and observed a day in life of an Air Traffic Controller. It was cool to see what goes on a daily basis at Perth Airport and to see what the controllers have to do to make sure that everyone is kept safe and all of the planes arrive and depart smoothly without crashing into one another!  It was extremely fun. I am very interested in planes myself and I know a lot about aviation. Some of the people in the tower even commented that I knew more than them about the aircraft! We saw mainly regional planes take-off, but we also saw some other domestic and international arrivals and departures. It was explained to me what was being said and it all made sense to me what was being said over the radio. It was an amazing experience and I can’t wait to pursue my career in aviation. Thank you to all the staff in Perth Tower and to my teacher for arranging this for me.
