FINAL ACC SWIMMING SQUAD ‘SWIM OFF’S’ & SQUAD PHOTOGRAPH INFORMATION
THURSDAY 21ST MARCH
The attitude displayed by our Swimming Squad to date has been excellent, and we can truly say that the core values of our Swim Squad have been exhibited this Term . . .
· Dedication
· Hardwork
· Ambition
We sincerely hope to be highly competitive ‘B’ Division this year.
In order to finalise the ACC Swimming Squad, the ‘Swim Offs’ will take place next week on Thursday 21st March at HBF Arena, Joondalup. ALL ACC Squad members are involved, but these are especially important for those members of the squad who are in contention for the same position or race as another student. All relay teams will also have the opportunity for a final team practice. The ‘Swim Offs’ are preceded with the official ACC Swimming Squad photograph at School and are followed by a Squad bowling session at Strike Bowling Joondalup. The ACC Swimming Squad will then be published as ‘Final’ and no further changes will be made unless due to unforeseen injury, illness or absence which we hope to avoid.
Swim Off’s Schedule - Thursday 21st March (Week 7):
- ALL ACC Squad Swimmers attend School in correct PE Uniform
- Lessons 1 – 3 as normal
- Lesson 4 (10.45am) meet at the Café Veranda for Squad Photograph
- Depart Peter Moyes ACS at 11.30am
- Swim Offs Commence 12.00pm
- Strike Bowling at AMF Bowling, Joondalup at 3:00pm
- · Parents pick up students at 4.15pm
- · Don’t forget to bring all your swimming equipment with you on Thursday 21st March
- · No training on Friday 22nd March
Following the ‘Swim Offs’, the ’Final’ ACC Swimming Squad will be published on Friday 22nd March. Parents will be informed, via direct e-mail, of their son or daughter’s event allocation for the ACC Carnival which is the following Tuesday.
ACC Swimming Carnival - Tuesday 26th March (Week 8)
- Squad Breakfast & numbering at 6.30am
- Final Squad Briefing at 7.20am
- Depart at 7.30am
- Arrive Challenge Stadium 8.30am
- Warm up at 9.00am
- Events commence at 10.00am
- Depart Challenge Stadium at 2.30pm
- Arrive at School around 3.30pm
Below is the ruling from the ACC Swimming Charter in relation to Inter-School Bathers:
Bathers: It is mandatory for competitors to swim in official school bathers. In exceptional circumstances schools may seek an exemption from the ACC for individual students to swim in non-official school bathers, as long as they are FINA approved (being in good moral taste and non-transparent) and are predominantly in school official colours. Official school bathers should be competition Racing Bathers for Boys and Girls.
Further information can also be found online at the ACC Webpage: http://www.accsport.asn.au/carnivals/swimming
P&F LEVY HOURS OPPORTUNITY - Swimming Timekeepers needed!
It would be very much appreciated if parents could offer their assistance to act as Timekeepers at the ‘Swim Offs’ on the afternoon of Thursday 21st March. Please contact Mr. P. Squire at school on 9403 5500 or psquire@petermoyes.wa.edu.au or complete a nomination on the School Parent Portal.
SUMMER CAS TERM 1
Our aim is for all CAS teams to be ‘consistently competitive’ in a range of sports. Summer CAS Teams have completed their first two fixtures and displayed some excellent game play against both Irene McCormack CC and St Mark’s ACS. We have two teams who have secured a win in both fixtures so far and are sitting in equal first place, a great effort from our Senior Girls Basketball and Year 8/9 Girls Touch teams.
Students involved should check the Sports Noticeboard weekly to confirm their playing details. They should also ensure they are marked off their team list by their Team Captain on game day and have appropriate sporting equipment with them. All fixture details were published the last edition of Sports News. Additional information can be found in the Inter-School Sports Programme Information Booklet given to all students. Parents of selected students were also e-mailed directly following successful selection.
Good luck to all teams as they play Lake Joondalup Baptist College this week.
PRE-SEASON TRAINING FOR SOCCER, NETBALL & AUSTRALIAN FOOTBALL
It has been very pleasing to see the number of students who have attended pre-season training sessions for Soccer, Netball and Australian Football. Over 150 students have been coming to the Northern Oval and the Netball Courts for the pre-season preparations that aid our CAS Team selections in Term 2.
Positions still available in;
- Year 7 Boys AFL
- Year 7 Girls Soccer
YEAR 7 CAS LIGHTNING CARNIVAL
On Friday 10st April (Week 10, Term 1) all Year 7 Students will compete in the Coastal Associated Schools (CAS) Inter-School Sports Carnival.
This is a day where all students will represent Peter Moyes Anglican Community School in their chosen sport (Basketball, Soccer, Touch Rugby, Volleyball, or Cricket) and play competitive games against other CAS schools. The main focus of the day is participation, fun, teamwork and enjoyment of sports activities and it enables all students to play sports against some of our local rivals in a sport of their choice.
P&F LEVY HOURS OPPORTUNITIES
Year 7 Lightning Carnival – Parental Team Assistants needed!
In order to successfully run the year 7 Lightning Carnival, parents are offered the opportunity to assist coaching a Year 7 Team on the day. Without volunteer assistance, these events would not be able to run, and they are dependent on the support and help of volunteers.
Team Assistants are required on Friday 10st April at the relevant venue; however, most parental volunteers meet at Peter Moyes School in the morning and travel on the bus.
The sports on offer are which require Team Assistants are:
- Basketball
- Soccer
- Touch Rugby
- Volleyball
- Cricket
Please complete the nomination process through the PORTAL if you are able to assist in any these roles, or if you would like further information. This will contribute a minimum 6 hours towards your parental voluntary hours and can be counted towards the P&F levy charge, and your help is greatly appreciated.
