Congratulations to all students who competed at the ACC Cross Country Carnival on 31st May 2018, which is Australia’s largest single day Inter-School sporting event with close to 3,500 competitors.

Most students attained a personal best which is all we can ask for amongst some incredibly consistent times, placings and age group performances. Our results placed us 3rd Overall out of 70 competing schools maintaining our position amongst the top three schools in the ACC for the fifth successive year. We were only behind Sacred Heart College and John XXIII College and as ever we beat a number of excellent and highly competitive schools.

A number of people commented to me on the heart of our students over the course of the day and it was unfortunate not to hold onto second position where we were placed for the entire day.

Everyone’s individual commitment to a group effort is what makes a team work, and this was clearly evident.

Special mention to both Samuel Holroyd and Abigail Graham who placed in the Top 5 for a third successive occasion meaning they are still on course to receive the prestigious ACC LETTERS AWARD which is one of the State’s highest sporting achievements. Mia Lockwood also placed in the Top 5 for a fifth successive year, having received ACC LETTERS in 2017 for both Cross Country and Athletics!

A number of students will receive either Sports Colours or Sports Honours later in the Semester at the Awards Assemblies as a result of their performances at the SSWA & ACC Cross Country Carnivals.

All School Team placing’s are posted on the ACC Website, however, there is a seven day scrutiny period for results to be finalised.

All individual placings, times and splits are also posted on the Blue Chip Timing Website. You can also print off an individualised official ‘Finishers Certificate’.

Many thanks to Mrs Bennett and Mrs McCorkindale who acted as Officials. I also highly value returning Alumni Savannah Steinbach who has assisted in coaching the Squad along with my valued coaching team of Physical Education Staff.

We now very much look forward to the commencement of preparations towards the ‘A’ Division ACC Athletics Carnival in Term 3 which is the pinnacle of the School’s sporting calendar.
