The start of each academic year is always busy and we have managed to fit a lot into the first five weeks. We welcomed our Year 7 students to the Middle School on Friday 1st February, with a day of orientation activities, finishing with a special welcome Chapel service at the end of the day. Year 8 and 9 students returned on Monday 4th February and hit the ground running in terms of new classes and academic challenges.
In Week 3, Hollows House won the Middle School Inter-House Swimming Carnival, with Florey House winning the inaugural Inter-House Swimming Cup, which combines the totals from both the Middle School and Senior School carnivals. Well done to both Houses! A heartfelt thank you to all the parent helpers and supporters who joined us for a fun and loud day! House Points are in full swing and already the competition is already looking fierce! Each year level are also competing in various Inter-House activities, with all Middle School students participating in the Inter-House singing competition this term. Thank you to all Year 8 & 9 parents who are doing an extra wash of their child’s House shirt this term!
The next few weeks show no sign of the pace abating with Year 7 Camp on the horizon. We are looking forward to three fun days of activities, team building and consolidating and making new friendships at Ern Halliday Recreation Camp.
As a school, we will mark the National Day Against Bullying & Violence and in the Middle School, each year level will be undertaking various activities on Friday 15th March. We will also have an assembly, which will remind all students of our hope that they are inclusive, accepting and tolerant of the differences in each one of us.
