After the recent success of winning the 2018 ACC ‘C’ Division Swimming Carnival the focus for 2019 was to continue to improve on the depth of our swimming squad and prove that we belonged in the ‘B’ Division Carnival.  With over 70 students regularly attending training the Swimming Squad lived up to the ACC Squad values of “Dedication, Hardwork & Ambition”. This was reflected in the performance of our students on the day, whether it was the student who swam one race or one of our strongest swimmers who swam five events, each and every member of the team performed to the best of their abilities, with many achieving a Personal Best and making a strong contribution to the overall success of the team. The team should be proud of their achievements, after 18 years competing in the Associated Catholic Colleges Swimming Competition this is only the second time they have competed in the ‘B’ Division Carnival and to achieve a 5th place finish and retain their position is the best result the school has ever had.

The departing Year 12 Senior Swimmers were critical in not only the team’s preparation but also the team’s performance on the day. Their spirit and school pride were clearly on display and set an excellent precedence for future years. In particular our Senior Swimming Captains; Jamie Anderson, Ben Mills and Isla Thomson were outstanding leaders and were ably supported by Keith Solly. I would also like to mention the efforts of Daniel Mann, Tyler Mouritz, Andrea Drummond and Adrian van den Burg who all swam up in an older category for the benefit of the team and continued to compete as best they could.

There were a number of outstanding individual performances on the day and these students are to be congratulated on their results and contribution to the team;

  • Dana Harrison (U13 Girls) – 3rd Place overall
  • Thomas Prowton (U14 Boys) – Champion Boy
  • Charlotte Ericksen (U15 Girls) – Champion Girl
  • Isla Thompson (U19 Girls) -  Runner Up Champion Girls
  • Jamie Anderson (U19 Boys) – Champion Boy

The improvement and depth of our Swimming Squad in recent years was further reflected with our ranking amongst the “Virtual Swimming Carnival” which collates all individual events across over 60 schools. We placed 7###sup/sup### over all and this is a fantastic achievement.

A huge Thank you to Mr. L. Parkes and Mr. G. Meyers for their commitment to training the ACC Swimming Team without whom the success of the Squad would not be possible.

Mr. P. Squire
