The process of confirming the School Leaders for 2017 has taken its first steps with the announcement of the Head Boy and Head Girl, along with their supporting Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl.
Earlier this term, a strong field of Head Boy and Head Girl candidates presented their speeches. The first speeches were before an audience which included the current Head Boy, Head Girl, Deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl, the Heads of House, Mrs Shaw and Mr Dowse. The following week, these same 14 students spoke to the Senior School- the Head Girl nominees on Thursday and the Head Boy nominees on Friday. The speeches were all of a high quality and uniformly impressive. Student voting occurred on each day.
The results of the ballot narrowed the field to three students for each positon. Further interviews were then conducted with Mr Dowse, Mrs Shaw and Mr Kameron.
The 2017 Student Leadership group will be led by Jake Alderson as Head Boy, Astha Sinha as Head Girl, Nicola Viviers as Deputy Head Girl and Krishan Nain as Deputy Head Boy.
Congratulations to Jake, Astha, Nicola and Krishan and all the students who nominated for these positions, and to those who proceeded to the shortlist - you have demonstrated the qualities and drive that is desired as a student leader.
The next stage of completing selection of the Student Leader roles for 2017 will include speeches to Houses for those students who have nominated for House Captaincy. In other cases, Heads of Department will be involved with selection of Prefect roles. The entire leadership group should be finalised by the end of this term.
Jake, Astha, Nicola and Krishan will benefit from discussing their roles with their current counterparts – Joshua, Holly, Emily and Innes while they are still in the School and taking on School representation during September, with the ASC Schools’ week and for the Commissioning of Reverend David Deeny.
